In one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir since Pulwama in 2019, at least 26 civilians—mostly tourists—were killed on Tuesday in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, a serene meadow known for its beauty. The attack, reportedly carried out by operatives linked to The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has shaken the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cutting short his Saudi visit, returned to India and chaired an emergency meeting with NSA Ajit Doval and EAM S. Jaishankar. Modi vowed that the perpetrators “will not be spared.” The incident has drawn strong condemnation from world leaders including Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Giorgia Meloni, who expressed solidarity with India.
